West Monkton Scout Group

West Monkton Scout Group, located in the South of England, belongs to Somerset County Scouts along with numerous other Groups and Districts throughout the County.

We were approached by Matt Ellett, a section leader with West Monkton Scout Group and Assistant County Commissioner for Somerset, to design and build a number of Scout Websites across Somerset County after working with the County itself on an older branded site.

We worked with their team on the project to ensure that their Groups and Districts are fully satisfied with the sites throughout the design and development process including any existing sites that are being rebranded and have continued to do so since launching.

West Monkton Scout Group continuously take advantage of extra functionality to make the most of their website. Take a look.

As West Monkton was a completely brand new site, there was a clean slate to work from. They shared all of their problems with us for us then to discuss and find a solution using our functionality.

Some of these include:

• Keeping members updated – As West Monkton Scout Group came to us for a brand new site, it was essential for them to be able to keep members up-to-date and informed. This is where our easy-to-update news, gallery and events pages come in.
• Improving recruitment of members and volunteers – Somerset is a popular and active part of the country, meaning West Monkton often runs at full capacity. Our sites offer Join form templates, but Matt has used our bespoke feature to change this to “register your interest” allowing leaders to keep track of applications and allocate spaces on a first-come-first-served basis.
• Integrating with external tools – Seamlessly integrating Online Scout Manager within the site allows for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Young Leaders programmes to be continuously updated and accessible to members directly through the site. It’s also possible to integrate with Google Calendar, Eventbrite and other sites.
